Dr. Zink will discuss the current outbreak of foodborne disease and recalls on Wednesday, Apr. 29, at 9:45 am. He replaces David Nabarro from the United Nations, who will be out of the country.  The Food Safety Summit takes place April 27-29 at the Washington, D.C., Convention Center.

“As a senior scientist with the U.S. Government, we are honored Dr. Zink will be presenting at the Summit and we look forward to hearing his remarks on the widespread concerns both domestically and internationally on the outbreak of foodborne illness and recalls,” said Scott Wolters, director of trade shows and conferences, BNP Media, producers of the event. “Dr. Zink has been an integral part of the food safety and quality assurance industry for 25 years and has been a senior food scientist with the FDA since 2002.”

At the Summit, Dr. Zink will join Michael Kaufman, chairman of the National Restaurant Association, and David Theno, Ph.D., retired senior vice president, quality and logistics of Jack in the Box Inc. as the keynote speakers. The Summit kicks off on Monday, Apr. 27th with four half-day workshops: New and Innovative Technologies for Food Safety; The Three Pillars of a Successful Food Liability Program: Preparation, Response and Resolution; Quantifying and Communicating the Business Risks of Food Safety, Food Fraud, and Food Defense; and A Reintroduction to HACCP.   Following the half-day workshops is an opening night reception where the NSF will present the 2009 Food Safety Leadership Awards.  For more information, visit www.foodsafetysummit.com.
