Nicholas & Company Awarded 2012 Utah Work/Life Award

SALT LAKE CITY (October 9, 2012)—Nicholas and Company Inc., a food service distributor in the Intermountain West, has won the Utah Work/Life Award for the eleventh consecutive year in the Large Company (over 500 employees) category. The awards are presented to companies on their employee’s responses on surveys about their workplace in best practices, leadership, management and daily work. The companies awarded have constructed a culture that values employees’ contributions to the workplace and creates a work life balance.

"After 14 years, this award gets harder and harder to win," said Lynette Rasmussen, director of the Department of Workforce Services’ Office of Work and Family Life. A third-generation family-owned broadline distributor, Nicholas & Company was founded in 1939. The company has been honored with numerous awards including the Best of State Statue and awards in 2003, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, and recognized as the Best Company to Work for in 2005 and 2011 from Utah Business Magazine.
