HATBORO, PA (June 8, 2012)—Benjamin Foods is pleased to announce that Edward C. Merry has joined the company as Chief Operating Officer.

Howard Klayman, President and CEO of Benjamin Foods, said, "Mr. Merry brings with him 35 years of progressive food service distribution and leadership experience.”

Merry spent nearly 10 years with Gordon Food Service and 13 years with the SYSCO organization in Philadelphia, where he was their operating company President. Mr. Merry also has strong food production experience. Prior to joining Benjamin Foods, he was President of Mattingly Foods-Louisville - a premium steak processor; and partner and CEO of D’Ambrosio Bakery (Gatehouse Holdings), a commercial Italian bread bakery in Philadelphia.

Benjamin Foods has recently undergone a transformation into a 125,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art distribution center. The company has quickly grown from its origins in institutional food service to a respected broadline supplier. In addition, a full-offering cash and carry store for home or business customers opened on-premise last year.

Benjamin Foods Restaurant Superstore provides local foodservice operators and the public with brand name food and restaurant supplies. Founded in 2006, Benjamin Foods is a broadline food distributor that serves public and private foodservice clients and government agencies with canned and dry goods, frozen foods, meats, seafood, cheeses, produce, and non-foods including equipment and supplies throughout the United States.
