Danny Meyer becomes inaugural Restaurant Leader of the Year at the RLC

New York restaurateur and Shake Shack founder Danny Meyer became the inaugural winner of the RB Restaurant Leader of the Year award at the Restaurant Leadership Conference this morning.

The award was presented by Nick Hayman, senior vice president of Restaurant Business magazine and its sister publication, FoodService Director. RB is a co-presenter of the RLC.

Meyer could not come in person to accept his award, but sent a video that was shot for the audience of the RLC. He thanked RB and his team at Union Square Hospitality Group for improving the industry. “We feel an obligation to our entire industry to keep trying to do the best we can for hospitality and for all of our stakeholders—beginning with our employees and our guests and our communities and our suppliers,” Meyer said.

Meyer was chosen by the editorial staff of RB for his sustained financial success, the example he sets for other leaders, and the innovation he’s demonstrated in both the quick-service and fine-dining side of his business.
