A new way for consumers to order a Pizza Hut pizza from their cars was disclosed yesterday by the system’s providers at a mobile-commerce conference in Madrid.
The new set-up has the twist of detecting when a customer who places a pick-up order is approaching the restaurant. Also bundled into the system is a cashless payment capability, enabling a driver to place an order without lifting her hands off the wheel.
The system, which brings together Visa Checkout, Bluetooth and Accenture technology, will be tested this spring in northern California, according to the partners.
The arrangement is the latest in the ongoing effort by pizza chains to provide customers with more low-sweat ways to order a pie. Yesterday Domino’s announced that patrons can use Android Wear and Pebbles watches to place and track an order.
