After the state’s governor decided this week to drop mask mandates and capacity restrictions, some restaurants are sticking with their previous pandemic precautions.

The restaurateur said, among the many things he has learned during the pandemic, the most important is the need to create an inclusive and diverse workforce.

The restaurant, which received a James Beard Foundation award, is believed to be one of the oldest Black-owned dining establishments in the South.

Restaurants and other businesses with fewer than 20 employees will be the only ones allowed to apply for relief funding for a two-week period starting Wednesday.

The operator of many independent concepts said it expects to be in the black by Q3 after a massive pandemic downturn.

The list of operators opting for that course is growing quickly.

The National Restaurant Association called the proposed aid a “game-changer for the tens of thousands of restaurants on the verge of closing.”

The to-go-focused promotion has a record number of participating restaurants, after organizers waived participation fees.

Around the country, operators are organizing large-order food drop-offs at suburban sites to reach far-flung diners in quarantine.
