1. Tech-leery Gen Z
While many Gen Zers consider tools such as mobile ordering important (in fact, they are 2% more likely than millennials to value it), they don’t see the technology as critical to the dining experience. The younger generation signaled that it’s wary of tech having a negative impact on the experience, according to Technomic’s Generational Consumer Trend Report.
3. Soda tax
It’s been a year and a half since the liberal oasis of Berkley, Calif., enforced its tax on soft drinks and sugary beverages, and preliminary studies suggest that residents in low-income areas are drinking less of the fizzy stuff—22% less, in fact. Conversely, Berkeleyites drank 63% more water.
