Diner, as hostess

Consumers soon will be able to check wait times at restaurants and add themselves to the list before ever walking through the door. NoWait, a heavily funded iPhone/iPad app in the crowded waitlist-management genre, is testing new features for consumers. More than 4,000 restaurants use the original app to text guests when a table is ready. The new features will let consumers play hostess on their own devices—and possibly veto a restaurant without leaving home. Currently, the new app is available to consumers in Pittsburgh and will roll out nationwide next month.
