Darden Restaurants Inc. DRI, +0.67 percent said same-store sales at its Olive Garden restaurants rose 0.6 percent in the five-week period to Sept. 28, the first month of its fiscal second quarter. Same-store sales at The Capital Grille restaurants rose 6.4 percent in the month, while same-store sales at LongHorn Steakhouse climbed 3.2 percent, Darden said in a statement. The company is now expecting adjusted per-share earnings for the second quarter to come in at the upper end of its previously announced range of 26 cents to 28 cents. The FactSet consensus is for EPS of 26 cents a share. Shares were not yet active in premarket trade, but are down 6.3 percent in the year to date, while the S&P 500 is up 5.3 percent.
