Denny’s CEO John Miller was named the foodservice operator of the year at a gala awards banquet tonight at the restaurant industry’s annual convention in Chicago.
Miller was chosen for the award, the IFMA Gold Plate, from among seven finalists— Silver Plate winners—chosen from their respective foodservice segment. Miller won the Silver Plate in the Chain Full Service/Multi-Concept category.
Among the other winners of Silver Plates were Michael Gibbons, CEO of Mainstreet Ventures, in the Independent/Multi-Concept category, and Kat Cole, group president for Focus Brands, in the Chain Limited Service group.
Miller was selected in a sealed vote by a jury consisting of past Silver and Gold Plate winners, industry VIPs and members of the foodservice media. Restaurant Business’ Peter Romeo participated in the selection process.
In accepting the award, Miller expressed his gratitude for working in foodservice."I feel so privileged to be part of this industry," he said.
The award was presented at a gala banquet held by the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association in Union Square Station.
