Domino’s introduces Apple Watch app

Domino’s has added a new layer to its technological lineup: order tracking via Apple Watch.

Though the pizza chain’s Apple Watch app, launched Tuesday, does not have ordering capabilities, it allows users to view the status of an order from when it’s placed with a local Domino’s, to when it’s put in the oven, to when it’s delivery- or pickup-ready.

"Domino's is always looking for ways to continue leading the e-commerce industry with our customer-focused technology, and our new app for Apple Watch is no exception," Dennis Maloney, Domino's vice president and chief digital officer, said in a statement. "Partnering with the world's leading technology innovator to give Domino's customers yet another way to track their order is one more way we hope to make customers' experiences even better and more convenient."

This isn’t the chain’s first foray into smartwatch app development. In recent months, it introduced ordering apps for Android Wear and Pebble smartwatches, in addition to ordering technology that spans such means as texts, Twitter and Samsung Smart TV.
