Famous Dave’s exits Richmond, Va., market

Famous Dave’s has shuttered its three company-run stores in the Richmond, Va., area and warned of taking a similar financial hit at four more locations.

It did not specify the locations of the four other stores that may require impairment charges.

Management said the closures are part of the chain’s ongoing effort to revive the brand. “The current leadership team continues to evaluate the performance of our legacy company-owned portfolio as we drive toward a return to positive same store sales and improved unit and company-level profitability, while we actively pursue our re-franchising strategy,” CEO Ed Rensi said in a statement.
