Favorite Foods Buys C.S. Woods; Expands Headquarters

C.S. Woods, located in Manchester, NH, services more than 250 restaurants and bakeries.

The combined company will be headquartered in here, where Favorite Foods, a member of Golbon, Boise, ID, has recently completed the expansion design for its distribution facility there and has already cleared the land for the addition, according to management. The expanded company will continue to use the C.S. Woods facility in Manchester until enough space is created in Somersworth to accommodate hundreds of additional line items.

"We have joined together two strong regional companies into one of the largest independently owned foodservice distributors in Northern New England. This is great news for the customers of both organizations. Combining the full line foodservice strength of Favorite Foods with the bakery expertise of C.S. Woods provides us with many new opportunities to better serve their needs" said Jeff Barstow, president of Favorite Foods.

"I am pleased to be joining the Favorite Foods organization and I look forward to taking an active roll in this transition and in the continued growth of our combined business. Together we will be providing over five thousand nationally branded and proprietary Golbon labeled products to over seven hundred independent operators." added Terry Penner, President of C. S. Woods.

Favorite Foods management said it was assisted in the transaction by the consulting group at Keiter, Stephens, Hurst, Gary and Shreaves, a Richmond, VA-based firm with a specialty in the foodservice industry.

In addition to its success in the distribution arena, Favorite Foods (click here to read earlier story about this distributorship in ID Report) has also received national recognition for their creation, implementation and management of FIRA, the Favorite Independent Restaurant Association. Through this program, Favorite Foods has established itself as a leading advocate for locally owned and independent restaurants.
