(July 11, 2013)—Favorite Foods, Inc., a family-owned broadline distributor, has re-joined the IFDA. Brothers Jeff and Chris Barstow, the founders of Favorite Foods, started the company in 1987 with just a van and a plan to distribute dry goods to area restaurants. Since then, the company has expanded several times and now owns a 50,000 square foot facility in Somersworth, NH and employees 50 people. Today, they are New Hampshire's only locally owned and operated broadline foodservice distributor. In 2002, Favorite Foods founded FIRA, the Favorite Independent Restaurant Association, a non-profit entity dedicated to helping local independent restaurants compete in a market dominated by national chain restaurants. Chris continues to serve as President and CEO, and along with David Myers, COO. The company is a member of the UniPro buying group.
