Burger King Europe and Bridgepoint announce master franchise joint venture agreement

Burger King Europe GmbH and private equity firm, Bridgepoint Advisers Limited have announced a master franchise joint venture agreement intended to expand and strengthen the Burger King brand throughout the United Kingdom.

The deal makes Bridgepoint the master UK franchisee of Burger King giving them exclusive development rights for the brand in the UK. Bridgepoint also acquired one of the United Kingdom’s biggest Burger King franchisees, Caspian UK Group, who owns 74 restaurants.

“We are thrilled to announce this agreement to increase the pace of growth for the Burger King brand in the UK, one of the world’s largest quick service restaurant markets,” said Jose Cil, President of the Burger King brand, in a statement. “The Bridgepoint team has extensive experience in the UK market and a strong track record investing in and developing leading brands in the quick service restaurant industry, which positions them well for success.”
