Food Safety Issues and Solutions Take Food Safety Summit in Washington

WASHINGTON, DC (April 8, 2010 - Marketwire)—Food safety, food security and quality assurance issues will be the main topic of conversation as 1,200 food processing, retail, foodservice, academic, military and government professionals make plans to attend the 12th Annual Food Safety Summit at the Washington DC Convention Center on April 12 to 14, 2010.

  • Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 9:45 am: Michael Robach, Vice President, Corporate Food Safety and Regulatory Affairs, Cargill, Inc., Global Food Safety Systems will discuss the strategic importance of global systems and the need for harmonization of food safety standards. He'll look at the global challenges surrounding the changing regulatory landscape and the consequences to trade and food security.
  • Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 9:45 am: Mike Taylor, Deputy Commissioner for Foods, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Food Safety and the FDA. Mr. Taylor will discuss current activities to strengthen the Foods Program at the FDA and provide information about the significance and importance of these activities to various sectors of the food chain.

Awards Programs: On Tuesday evening The 2010 Food Quality Awards Presentation and Reception will be sponsored by DuPont Qualicon and will be presented by Food QualityMagazine. During the Wednesday Keynote -- NSF will present the 2010 Food Safety Leadership Awards.

Show Floor Highlights: In addition to the extensive educational program, the exhibition hall will feature over 175 exhibitors, and the opportunity to listen, learn and engage in the Vendor Track Theatre and Vendor Round Table Panel Discussions.
