FPC Becomes FoodPRO

{mosimage}"We are very proud of our origins as a produce company, and of our community involvement. We felt it was necessary to change our name because we had outgrown it. It confused our customers as to who we really are. Some potential customers never gave Frederick Produce an opportunity to provide them with the meat, seafood, dry and frozen goods, coffee, dairy, disposables, chemicals and equipment we distribute," said Ed Furbee, president.

Founded as Frederick Produce Co, Inc., 70 years ago, in 1951 the company expanded into full-line distribution, providing foodservice products to a wide-range of operators in the Mid-Atlantic states.

Furbee indicated that the renamed distributorship, which continues membership in UniPro Foodservice, Inc., Atlanta, would come to be known to its customers as an alternative to publicly-traded, national distributorships, and a purveyor of national brands.

"Our name finally reflects the company we have been for many years," said Kevin McAteer, vice president of sales. "Our existing customers will continue to enjoy the same relationships and the same great service, and potential customers will now have a better understanding of who we are."
