Freebirds said it has named Bobby Shaw president of the emerging fast-casual chain.

Shaw, who joined the burrito brand in 2013, will also continue in his current capacity as its chief operating officer.

Shaw oversaw the relocation of Freebird’s headquarters from Emeryville, Calif., to Austin, Texas, last year, the chain said, and has led the brand’s ongoing redesign efforts. He will also play a “key role” as Freebirds looks to boost its technology offerings and expand to new markets.

“Over the past few years, [Shaw] has played an instrumental role in ensuring Freebirds’ success and continued growth,” Charles Lewis—chairman of Freebirds’ owner, Tavistock Restaurants—said in a statement. “His dedication to his craft, as well as to Freebirds and its growing ‘Tribe,’ make him the ideal candidate to lead our efforts during a time of exciting change and innovation.”

Shaw previously served as an executive regional director for Chipotle, overseeing restaurants across 10 states.
