Health concerns prompt canned beets recall in 18 states

(March 21, 2011 - BusinessWeek)—Lakeside Foods Inc. has recalled 105-ounce cans of pickled sliced beets. The pickled sliced beets were sold to food service distributors in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

The cans were sold from December 2009 to January 2011.

The pickled beets are being recalled because some of the cans may have been under processed and may contain Clostridium Botulinum.
