ID NEWS: Quality-PFG's Tappan to retire; Greg Schaffner tapped as successor

Performance Food Group (PFG), Richmond, VA, has announced that Philip Tappan, president, Quality-PFG, Little Rock, AR, plans to retire, effective May 30. He will be succeeded by Greg Schaffner, most recently southwestern regional zone president for U.S. Foodservice (USF), Columbia, MD.

"Phil has spent most of his career building Quality Foods into the great company that it is today," comments Steven Spinner, PFG's ceo for the broadline segment. "It is his hard work and dedication to the business and the associates of Quality Foods that have made it a success."

Schaffner, too, is an industry veteran. Prior to the regional zone president post at USF, he held senior management positions with Kraft Foodservice and Alliant Foodservice, which was acquired by USF in November, 2001.

"We are fortunate to have attracted Greg to Performance Food Group," Spinner notes. "His leadership and experience in the foodservice industry will further our success at Quality-PFG."
