Stanley Allen, ceo of Allen Foods, St. Louis, the Top 50 distributor acquired by U.S. Foodservice USF), Columbia, MD, last December, will retire at the end of September or early October, as will his cousin Ricky Allen, executive vice president.
"I love the industry and have loved watching it mature to a real, viable credible one," comments Allen, who was third-generation leadership of the St. Louis powerhouse. As he was born into the industry, Allen says now he would like to explore other possibilities, including, potentially, a program at Washington University.
Allen's successor is industry veteran, Ken Craft, most recently head of the USF Memphis Div. Craft's solid distributor background include stints at such well respected southeastern broadline houses of the past as PYA/Monarch, Schloss & Kahn and Coastal Distributors.
