Joseph Sciortino, Former President and CEO of Sysco South Florida, Dies

Before joining Sysco, Sciortino spent 19 years climbing the corporate ladder to become national sales manager of the foodservice division at H.J. Heinz Co.

After retiring in 1997, Sciortino was an active supporter of many faith-based charities. Last April, he was given a Roman Catholic Church award, the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice ("For Church and Pope”), the highest medal a lay person can receive from the pope. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Sciortino, a son, a daughter and six grandchildren.
