Make It Fun to Do Business With You

Jay Siff, Founder and CEO of Moving Targets, is committed to helping you make more money. With his 18+ years in retailing and 18+ years in direct marketing, Jay has excelled in growing one of the largest and most successful direct-to-the-customer retail marketing companies in the United States.

Direct marketing delivers immediate, trackable, and measurable results that businesses demand—especially in today’s economy. There’s no expensive “waste circulation.”  Promotions go only to prospects most likely to respond.

Want better results from your promotions? Instead of costly trial-and-error experiments, you can easily boost your ad response by using proven tips and tricks of today's most successful direct marketers. Put these ideas to work for you today!

Sell ‘Em with Samples

Corporate giants know that free samples not only get attention… but also get new business! Starbucks samples coffee… Campell’s samples soup… Dannon samples smoothies… Chick-fil-A samples chicken. What can you sample? Samples drive customers through your doors… your quality and service bring them back for more.

It’s East to Get People Talking About You!

Don’t just run the same boring ads over and over… be creative and stand out. One of our clients turns his customers’ birth dates into percentages which he gives as a discount, with a minimum of 10% off. A birth date of August 21 gets 21% off… February 9 gets a minimum of 10% off, etc. Drivers’ licenses confirm dates.

Build Your “Wall of Honors”

Do you know how to create an overwhelming impression of popularity and quality among new customers? It’s easy! Simple ask your current customers to complete a short, 1-question survey consisting of a big headline that says “What Do You Think About Us?” Add the subhead “We value your opinion! Please tell us how we’re doing by writing your comments in the big space below. Thank you!” Offer $1 off if they do it immediately. Post the best of them on a wall dedicated to nothing but surveys. Don’t be afraid to also post some of the “suggestions for improvement,” as these add credibility to the rest. This technique has the powerful effect of “cementing” the opinions of those who already love you… and instilling tremendous confidence in new customers.

Make It Fun to Do Business With You

Stir up some excitement by advertising a “Barnum Balloon Bust!” Blow up colorful balloons (perhaps imprinted with your logo) and slip folded papers inside with a range of percentage of savings, say 10-100%. Hang the balloons on the wall or fill each with helium with strings attached and let them float to the ceiling. Every customer chooses and pops one balloon – the paper inside reveals their discount. The thrill of choosing and the pop, pop, popping is exciting for customers and never fails to get you loads of free word-of-mouth publicity.
