McCarty-Hull, Amarillo, Texas, is a $100 million distributor of grocery, tobacco, and sundry products to c-stores and grocery retailers. It serves many highly regarded chain customers as well as small independent retailers in a four-state service area centered on their primary distribution center in Amarillo.
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of McLane, the acquired company will continue to operate under the name McCarty-Hull and will continue to be headquartered in Amarillo. The current management team, under the leadership of Bill McCarty and Joe Bowlin, will remain in place and business operations will continue as usual.
Jim Kent, executive vice president of administration at McLane, believes that the operations and management philosophies of McCarty-Hull are an excellent fit for McLane.
"We believe that combining the financial resources of McLane with the hands-on management style of McCarty-Hull will be a win-win for everyone, especially the customers," said Kent.
McCarty-Hull is the second of two acquisitions in less than two years in Texas. McLane purchased C.D. Hartnett, a wholesale distribution company with $230 million in sales, in late 2004.
"These acquisitions and the substantial investments we have made in our existing logistics infrastructure further highlight McLane's commitment to provide a world-class level of services to the industry," Kent stated.
