Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc. has completed the acquisition of all 26 Arby’s locations owned and operated by franchisee Trefz and Trefz, the franchisor announced Friday.
The Trefz family had operated Arby’s restaurants for 45 years, including locations across Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, the company said. Arby’s assumed official management of those units on July 27, and 600 employees of the former franchisee have transitioned to employment under Arby’s.
“Oren and Paul Trefz have been incredible operators and ambassadors of the Arby’s brand,” Arby’s CEO Paul Brown said. “We are thankful for their dedication to Arby’s and passion for the business. We welcome their restaurants and employees into the ARG portfolio and are excited to deliver the same delicious experiences to our guests in those areas where the Trefz family has operated for the last 45 years.”
Atlanta-based Arby’s, which reported its second-quarter results at the end of last month, saw comp sales rise 7.6 percent year over year during the quarter, a result of momentum gained by its recent “We Have The Meats” marketing campaign and other customer-outreach efforts. The company said that its sales are outpacing the QSR industry as a whole by 5.3 percentage points.
