Bonefish Grill gets a new leader

Bloomin' Brands, the multi-concept casual-dining giant, has named Gregg Scarlett as the new president of its Bonefish Grill seafood chain.

Scarlett was promoted to the post from his previous position of senior vice president of casual-dining operations for Bloomin’. He replaces Stephen Judge. Bloomin’ said Judge is leaving to pursue other interests, but noted that he will remain with the company for a transition period.

Scarlett will also serve as executive vice president of the company, whose other brands include Outback Steakhouse, Carabba’s and Fleming’s. It operates about 1,500 restaurants in total.

In announcing Scarlett’s promotion, Bloomin’ CEO Liz Smith cited Bonefish as “our top development priority.”

Scarlett joined the company 20 years ago as a managing partner of an Outback in upstate New York.
