Cameron Mitchell group taps millennial staff for concept ideas

In a bid to spur some healthy competition and engage millennial staff, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants has tapped its young employees to craft ideas for a new pop-up restaurant it will debut next year.

As part of the restaurant group’s inaugural “CMR Millennial Concept Challenge,” three teams of millennial employees—ranging from sous chefs to marketing managers—will develop a prospective concept to be presented to the group’s leadership team early in 2017.

Concepts will be assessed on menu, design, viability, ROI and other factors, including the outcome of a development trip taken by the teams and their assigned corporate mentors, the company said.

“While we aim to have our senior level management mentor our younger associates through this process, we hope the younger associates teach us just as much about the visions this up-and-coming generation has for the future of hospitality,” David Miller, president of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, noted in a news release.

The pop-up will be located in Columbus, Ohio, which is home to several of the group's restaurants.
