Coming out of the sales crash it experienced in recent months, Chipotle may be looking to jumpstart customer interest with the addition of new craft beverages, TheStreet reports.
Sangria, draft beer and a frozen take on the chain’s margarita are some of the items currently being tested in Denver, as well as watermelon-infused water, iced tea and more natural fountain drinks.
Booze represents about 2 percent of the fast casual’s sales, a Chipotle spokesperson told TheStreet, noting that there is no plan to roll out the new beverages to more locations at this time.
Chipotle has historically been hesitant to add new menu items, making its first food addition in 2014 with the debut of sofritas.
