Cracker Barrel reveals its fast-casual concept

Cracker Barrel

Cracker Barrel plans to launch a fast-casual Southern foods concept this spring called Holler & Dash.

The spin-off of the country-store-themed full-service chain will specialize in biscuit-based options, according to a report on The Tennessean, a website affiliated with USA Today. The site said it was provided with a statement from Cracker Barrel that confirms the prototype will be located in Homewood, Ala.

The concept was developed in collaboration with Tennessee chefs Jason McConnell and Brandon Frohne. McConnell, best known as chef-operator of the Red Pony and 55 South restaurants, came up with the biscuit recipe.

Cracker Barrel revealed last year that it would develop a spin-off fast-casual concept, but did not disclose details.

Holler & Dash will not be the chain’s first spinoff. It experimented for several years with a takeout “home-meal replacement concept” called Cracker Barrel Corner Market, but decided not to proceed with the venture.
