Joella’s Hot Chicken plans for expansion

Joella’s Hot Chicken is adding a second location, replacing longtime Lexington, Ky., eatery Billy’s Bar-B-Que, as part of a larger expansion effort for the young brand.

The hot-chicken concept, which opened its first unit in Louisville, Ky., in September, is owned by EAP Restaurant Concepts, which also operates BoomBozz Craft Pizza & Taphouse and Manny & Merle. Lines at Joella’s inaugural restaurant have been “out the door” since its opening, Joella’s said.

“Expanding to Lexington is a natural next step for Joella’s, as we hope to share and make our Southern-inspired, hot chicken varieties a natural craving for guests across the Bluegrass region,” EAP Restaurant Concepts CEO Tony Palombino said. “The response from local customers here in Louisville has been overwhelming, and we can’t wait to introduce our hot chicken to Lexington locals.”

In addition to trending hot chicken, the Lexington location will offer self-serve craft beer, which customers purchase by the ounce.
