Melting Pot operator puts franchise vet in charge of HR

After a career spent largely in franchise development, Dan Stone is shifting into a top-level personnel position at Front Burner Brands, the operator of The Melting Pot fondue chain.

Stone’s new position, chief business and people development officer, combines aspects of business expansion with more conventional human-resources functions, like training, Front Burner said. For instance, he will oversee legal functions and strategic planning, as well as personnel development.

"Dan will continue to drive our company's internal and external growth through his vast experience in franchise development, as well as his background in human resources in the hospitality industry,” said Front Burner CEO Bob Johnson.

Before switching to a franchise-development career track in 2006, Stone served as director of human resources for about two years for Winegardner & Hammons, a hotel franchisee.

He had served as Front Burner’s vice president of franchise development since mid-2011.

Earlier, he oversaw the franchise development of Burger 21.
