Starbucks is angling to give its Reserve coffee line more fuel for growth, as the coffee giant is in “late-stage talks” to bring its Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room concept to New York City, The Real Deal reports.
The lease on a 25,000-square-foot space in the city’s Meatpacking District is expected to be official later this month, making the new outpost one of the largest Starbucks locations in the world, notes The Real Deal. The roastery would include a restaurant, cafe and lounge area.
Currently, the only Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room is located in Seattle, and at 15,000 square feet, is somewhat smaller than the unit being planned for New York.
The Seattle roastery allowed Starbucks to expand the availability of its specialty Reserve coffee line from 800 to 1,500 stores globally, as Restaurant Business earlier reported, and the addition of a New York City roastery could pave the way for similar expansion.
