Performance Foodservice Announces 2012 Supplier of the Year Award Winners

RICHMOND, VA (October 8, 2012)—Performance Foodservice recently named its overall 2012 Supplier of the Year along with six additional category winners in its annual awards program to recognize supplier excellence. The seven winning organizations were selected from more than 3,000 suppliers and were recognized at the company’s annual awards meeting held this year in Palm Springs, Calif.

Company executives presented Leprino Foods Company of Denver, Colo., with the overall Supplier of the Year Award. Leprino Foods took top honors based on the criteria used to evaluate all award winners, including sales and case growth, gross profit, sales and marketing support, supply chain strategies, product quality and food safety standards.

“Leprino Foods is a stellar partner and most deserving of our top supplier award,” said Jim Spatola, Senior Vice President of Procurement for PERFORMANCE Foodservice. “Leprino has served as our branded supplier of cheese since 1994. Their ongoing efforts to drive customer loyalty and develop new SKU’s, as well as their willingness to partner closely with us in a joint sales program helped them earn this prestigious award.”

In addition to the overall award, top performing suppliers and 2012 winners in their respective categories were JBS USA – Protein, Schreiber Foods – Cheese, Con Agra Mills – Dry Grocery, Durable Packaging International – Non-Foods, Ruby Robinson, Inc. – Produce, and Cuisine Innovations, LLC – Frozen.

Performance Foodservice operates 36 broadline distribution companies serving customers nationwide. It is a business segment of Richmond, Va.-based Performance Food Group.
