The investment firm returned to the restaurant industry in 2017 with its acquisition of Checkers & Rally’s for $525 million from another private-equity firm, Sentinel Capital. Prior to this purchase, Oak Hill had a good track record with its restaurant investments. For instance, in 2010, the investor acquired the food and games chain Dave & Buster’s for $570 million. Oak Hill took Dave & Buster’s public four years later, at least tripling its investment, according to reports.
