Quiznos names Doug Pendergast CEO

The Quiznos sandwich chain has hired Doug Pendergast to succeed Stuart Mathis as president and CEO.

Pendergast, who holds a Master’s Degree in Business from Harvard University, has served in top-level positions at several quick-service-restaurant chains, including Church’s Chicken and its one-time parent, AFC Enterprises, which later became Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Inc. He was most recently president and CEO of The Krystal Co., parent of the Krystal burger chain. Pendergast left that post last summer.

Stuart Mathis had served in the top job at Quiznos for about two-and-a-half years. Quiznos said Mathis left to pursue other opportunities.
