Bill Simon’s inspiration for his restaurant’s signature “steakburger,” 1950’s theme and patriotic décor is his father, a World War II veteran who grilled premium-grade burgers for his sons while they were growing up. Founded in Wichita, Kansas, in 2002, the chain now has more than 40 locations across Kansas and nine other states. Freddy’s selection of frozen custards boosts business during summer months, but the steakburgers keep customers coming in all year long.
