Starbucks has named former Under Armour SVP Leanne Fremar as executive creative director of the coffee chain.

In her new role, effective in October, Fremar will oversee the development of creative assets for all of the coffee giant’s brand and marketing campaigns, including those for Starbucks Roastery units and the chain’s higher-end Reserve coffee brand.

She will also oversee 100-plus employees at Starbucks’ creative studio in Seattle.

“Leanne brings 20 years of marketing and creative expertise from some of the most iconic and admired apparel and fashion brands,” Sharon Rothstein, Starbucks’ global CMO, said of Fremar, who has held leadership positions at Gucci Group and Polo Ralph Lauren in addition to her role with the Under Armour athletic apparel brand. “Her strategy, vision and dynamic leadership will guide us into the next evolution of creative expression at Starbucks.”

Starbucks’ domestic comps grew 4% year over year during the most recent financial quarter, while its U.S. revenues rose 7% to $3.65 billion.
