Sysco to Expand South Carolina Location

The expansion will add 114 jobs to Sysco Food Services of Columbia. The unit will have 500 employees after the expansion. The warehouse, which covers 266,000 sq. ft., will be expanded to cover about 400,000 sq. ft.

"Our phenomenal growth over the last four years has reaffirmed the decision we made to build our facility in South Carolina so that we would be closer to our customers," Bruce Matthews, ceo, was quoted as saying.

Matthews said the company has benefited from a growing population and a 20-year trend of people eating out more often — a trend that has slowed growth for grocery stores.
