Sysco Promotes Neely to Ass't Controller

HOUSTON - Gregory W. Neely has been named assistant controller of Sysco Corp., Houston, the company announced. Neely, who is currently senior director of operations review, will assume his new duties effective July 4, the beginning of Sysco's fiscal year 2005.

Neely, 44, began his Sysco career in 1996 as a staff auditor in the operations review department at its corporate headquarters here. In 1997 he was promoted to assistant manager of operations review and the following year he transferred to Sysco Food Services of Chicago, Inc., as director of finance and chief financial officer. Neely progressed to vice president of finance and chief financial officer of the Chicago operation in 2000 and in 2002 he returned to the corporate office to serve in his current position.

Neely was born in Ruislip, Middlesex, England and was raised in Waco, Texas, where he earned an associate of arts degree in business administration from McClennan Community College in 1981. In 1988 he was awarded a bachelor's of business administration degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington and in 1993 he earned his certified internal auditor (CIA) accreditation. Neely has a daughter and a son and resides in Houston.
