Sysco takes over Fin's Seafood

(January 28, 2010 -  Edmonton Journal)—Fin's Seafood Distributors - for 15 years a purveyor of fine fresh and frozen product in Sherwood Park - has entered a "purchase agreement" with Sysco Foods. Fin's co-owner Doug Sauve says the deal is to go through on January 31, and refused further comment until after that point.

Fin's started with four employees in 1994 (including Doug, his wife, Nancy, and her mother, Adele Irwin), and by last fall (when I did a story on them) had expanded to 28 employees, a 14,000-square-foot facility on Cree Road and more than a dozen trucks delivering fresh and frozen seafood to restaurants, hotels and banquet facilities across the Edmonton region. Even the sea lions at West Edmonton Mall enjoy Fin's products.
