Red Robin to add tabletop payment and maybe more

Add Red Robin to the list of casual-dining chains that will invite customers to pay for their meals via a tabletop device.

Executives said the new technology will also enable patrons to input or access information from Red Robin’s loyalty program and to opt for entertainment options that carry a fee.

CEO Steve Carley was asked if the capabilities will be expanded to include ordering drinks or food, but he declined to answer, noting that the contract has just been signed. He set 2015 as the year of deployment.

Three Red Robin franchisees have been using the system for as long as three years, according to the device’s supplier, Ziosk.
