ROSEMONT, IL (July 22, 2011)—U.S. Foodservice announced it has acquired Vesuvio Foods, Inc, a supplier of Italian foods to pizzerias, fine Italian restaurants and gourmet shops in the New York City area.

"We are especially pleased that Vesuvio President Anthony Vasaturo and his team will be joining U.S. Foodservice to help us provide the highest quality products and service to our customers."
Vesuvio Foods distributes about 3,500 products from 400 suppliers in Italy, the U.S. and around the world.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
