USF Names New COO, Announces Some Reorganization

Schuette is an 18-year veteran of the company and most recently served as North Region President.  He will direct a re-defined field support organization to better serve customers.  The company’s purchasing organization, Monarch Food Group, and its Alliant Logistics group, will also report to Schuette.

“2009 will clearly be a year of unprecedented challenges in the foodservice industry, and are taking actions to help our customers win,” said Bob Aiken, president and ceo.  “Stuart will focus on attaining the highest possible levels of customer focus and operating efficiency throughout our company.  We intend to respond faster to our customers’ changing needs by improving the efficiency of everything we do.  Our commitment is to deliver integrity beyond compare, resources beyond the ordinary, and service beyond expectations.”

In addition to naming Schuette chief operating officer, Aiken said that the company has taken a number of additional actions to improve its customer focus and operating efficiencies.  These actions include the addition of more than 200 new sales people in the past year, as well as the introduction of more than 1,000 new competitively-priced, value- added private-brand products.  The company has also announced that it is consolidating the activities of its Columbia, Maryland, office into its Rosemont headquarters and Phoenix Processing Center.
