The iconic McGriddles breakfast sandwich debuted in 2003 and quickly became a customer favorite. McDonald’s tweaked the original—a build of bacon, scrambled egg and American cheese sandwiched between maple-flavored pancakes—to launch this decadent version as an LTO. It features a warm brioche French toast bun filled with egg, American cheese, sausage and applewood-smoked bacon, then brushed with syrup. Technomic’s Ignite menu concept development survey revealed that 65% of potential purchasers found this McGriddles update craveable. Items with high craveability scores can indicate an increase in sales, says Lauren Hallow, consumer insights manager for Technomic.
