2016 Top 500: Bakery-cafe chains

Panera Bread

Bakery cafe chains within the Top 500 increased sales a combined 6.7% to $7.1 billion. Unit counts increased 3.9% to 3,839. Some of the largest players, including category leader Panera Bread, exhibited healthy growth, and plenty of younger chains are rising in the ranks, including Kneaders Bakery & Cafe with a sales increase of 40%, and Boudin Sourdough Bakery & Cafe, up 14.8%.
