The dinner menu at New York City’s Greywind starts with a Snacks section, and the star of the section is a serving of Housemade “Cheese-Its” (spelling intentional.) They sell for $13 and almost every table orders them to nibble with drinks. The Cheese-Its are made daily in the bakery at Greywind, where customers can also purchase jumbo-sized versions.
The smaller size—also served at brunch and lunch—started off as a vehicle to scoop up a pimento cheese dip, said chef-owner Dan Kluger. “But they were so good, we decided to serve them on their own,” he said, adding that he enjoys putting some nostalgia and fun on his menus.
