The fast-casual pizza chain continues to shrink as sales fell for the 18th consecutive quarter. Sister chain Pizza Inn also saw sales decline.

Same-store sales rose 33.5% in May, even as states started reopening restaurants for dine-in service.

The chain took some big risks with delivery and its menu, and as consumers stayed home, its sales flourished.

The chain’s same-store sales rose 27% as third-party delivery and consumers staying home bolstered its performance.

CEC Entertainment, which also owns Peter Piper Pizza, lost most of its sales in the aftermath of the coronavirus shutdown.

Sale changed dramatically as consumers adjusted their behavior, but international sales have been weaker.

The chain’s sales slowed in the first quarter but remained better than other restaurants as consumers opt for more delivery.

The pizza chain said the shutdown has impacted its sales in ways that it cannot yet “fully quantify” and says 1,400 global locations are temporarily closed.

Pizza Hut said it is hiring 30,000 workers as the pizza chains both work to fill open positions and meet growing demand.
