Chipotle adds a line of new drinks

A portion of the sales of the lemonades, agua frescas and tea from Tractor Beverage Co. will benefit farmers.

Chipotle Mexican Grill will debut a range of new organic, non-GMO beverages from Tractor Beverage Co. Tuesday, the fast-casual chain announced.

The lemonades, agua frescas and tea are Chipotle’s first national philanthropic product integration, with 5% of profits from the sale of Tractor Beverage Co. drinks going toward causes that support farmers. Money will be used to expand that chain’s existing farmer programs, including long-term contracts, increased local sourcing, and scholarships and grants to start, run or grow farming operations, the company said.

Four new beverages will be offered for in-restaurant dining and carryout orders, including Organic Lemonade, Organic Hibiscus Lemonade, Organic Mandarin Agua Fresca and Organic Berry Agua Fresca.

Tractor Beverages also created two exclusive bottled drinks for Chipotle for dine-in, takeout and delivery orders: Organic Lemonade and Organic Black Tea.

“Adding Tractor Beverage Co. products and introducing Beverages with Integrity is a notable evolution for the Chipotle menu,” CMO Chris Brandt said in a statement.

Last month, Chipotle launched a virtual farmers’ market platform to help its farmer suppliers sell their goods directly to consumers. The move gives farmers a new revenue stream, to supplement income lost amid the pandemic.
