In what’s believed to be an industry first, a quick-service chain is launching a menu geared toward those taking weight-loss drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy.

Dallas-based Smoothie King on Tuesday debuted its GLP-1 Support Menu, featuring five smoothies that include at least 19 grams of protein, significant amounts of fiber and no added sugar. The menu’s Gladiator smoothie packs up to a whopping 61 grams of protein, about as much as nearly 9 ounces of steak.

Six percent of adults say they are currently taking GLP-1 agonist medications, which are commonly used to treat chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart disease but have become an increasingly popular weight loss tool, according to data published in May by health policy research firm KFF. Global sales of GLP-1 medications are predicted to reach $133 billion by 2030, according to MarketWatch.

Smoothie King developed its menu in partnership with Molly Kimball, a registered dietitian with nonprofit healthcare provider Ochsner Health.

“When developing this menu, it was important to offer blends with a thoughtful balance of nutrient-dense, high-protein, fiber-rich foods to support satiety and muscle mass,” Kimball said in a statement. “We were also mindful of sugar—each smoothie on the menu contains zero grams of added sugar.”

Kimball noted that the new menu is not solely for those taking the popular weight loss drugs, they are suitable for anyone “just looking for a hydrating, protein-rich smoothie option.”

The GLP-1 Support Menu lineup includes:

  • Gladiator GLP-1 with 45-61 grams of protein and 2-14 grams fiber; a base of chocolate, vanilla or strawberry with a choice of two add-ins, including almonds, almond butter, wild blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, organic ginger, kale, carrots or spinach
  • Slim N Trim GLP-1 Mango Greens with 22 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber; mangoes, Greek yogurt, almond milk, Slim N’ Trim Blend, organic kale, ginger and spinach
  • Keto Champ GLP-1 with 24 grams of protein and 14-15 grams of fiber; a base of berry or chocolate with additions including almond milk, almond butter, berries, cocoa and Keto Protein Blend
  • The Activator Recovery GLP-1 Almond Berry with 24 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber; made with strawberries, wild blueberries, almond milk, coconut water and Gladiator Protein Strawberry
  • Power Meal Slim GLP-1 with 19-22 grams of protein and 6-10 grams of fiber; a base of chocolate, vanilla or strawberry and additions including bananas, almond milk, strawberries and Power Slim Protein

“We know that every individual’s path is different, and with the rising use of GLP-1 medications across the country and our customer base, we want to ensure that Smoothie King provides the nutritional resources to match,” CEO Wan Kim said in a statement. “Our smoothies are more than just a delicious treat—they’re a power-packed meal-on-the-go to help our guests stay on track with their goals.”

Smoothie King’s GLP-1 menu is now available at the chain’s nearly 1,200 locations nationwide.
