D.C. multi-concept operator reaches outside for new CEO

The operator of J. Paul’s, Paolo’s and other restaurants in the Washington, D.C., area has reached outside the industry for a new CEO, Tom Gregg.

“I have more experience as an entrepreneur then a restaurateur,” said Gregg, whose appointment to the top job at D.C.-based Capital Restaurants Concepts was announced yesterday. “However, I have a strong understanding of the culinary side of the business, and combined with my business background, I hope to help re-energize and grow the current CRC iconic brands to their full potential, and then add iconic brands to our current portfolio of restaurants.”

Gregg has most recently served as an investor through the private-equity firm MacGregor Capital, a backer of Central Michel Richard restaurant. Earlier, he founded and led a software company, 3-G International, and served as president of the sous vide supplier Cuisine Solutions.

CRC’s restaurants include Georgia Brown’s, Old Glory and Neyla.
